Central Park in the Dark some 40 Years Ago in Tate Gallery
Calcium Light Night is a series of nine screenprints made by the artist while he was living in Berlin. They take as inspiration the work of American composer Charles Ives (1874–1954). The title of each print is the title of a song by Ives and the images are a visual representation of the music. The composer, like the artist, was a magpie–like collector of styles and imagery, weaving brass band music, folk songs, spirituals, and hymns, into his own experiments with musical composition.
