Martin BOYCE We are Still and Reflective  (2007)
Paper size: 1120mm
x 760mm | UNFRAMED
Original screenprint on wove paper signed Martin Boyce in pencil and dated lower right, 'p/p 1/2': one of two printer's proofs aside from the limited edition of 40
A few handling creases, otherwise in very good condition. A superb, large, eye-catching print by this contemporary Glasgow artist
On the site of a former Zoo in Himmelreichallee, Munster, 13 concrete shapes form the pattern used by the French sculptors Jan and Joel Martel. The latter designed abstract concrete trees in the 1920s, presenting a 'perfect unity of architecture and art' in Boyce’s opinion. Select interspaces of these slabs were inlaid with brass strips by Boyce to form letters: 'We are still and reflective'. Being aware of this message set in the ground fills the desolate place with emotion and meaning
