£4,995 GET 20% OFF AT CHECKOUT

Limited edition screen print in orange and white on nine vacuum-formed butyrate panels.  Signed Joe Tilson on the reverse in pencil, dated 1965 and numbered from the small limited edition of 30. Framed in the original aluminium frame, total size 30cm x 30cm. A US Storage label on the reverse for Marlborough Graphics, who probably sold or exhibited the work at their New York gallery in the 1960s. This edition was also produced in white and yellow.

In good overall condition with a few dings and scratches to the chrome frame commensurate with age and adding to the vintage look. Guaranteed to be a conversation starter in any interior! An extremely beautiful and iconic original 1960s Pop Art object by this hugely collectable British artist.

Joe Tilson begun his working life as a professional joiner, and constructing things from ‘this and that’ became part of his approach as an artist. He was influenced by American advertising with its punchy colors and bold logos, and highly stylized typefaces. He also had a fascination with puzzles and a concern, shared by fellow Pop artists such as Blake and Richard Hamilton, with troubling the hierarchy between original and copy. Such experiments moved him closer to what we know now as Pop art.
