Howard HODGKIN Sun from More Indian Views  (1976)
One original lithograph from Hodgkin's series of five lithographs More Indian Views from seven zinc plates printed in beige, two shades of blue, orange, red, black and white on TH Saunders wove watermarked paper. Signed Hodgkin in pencil on the reverse, dated (19)76, and numbered from the limited edition of 60. Published by Bernard Jacobson Ltd and printed by Ian Lawson.
In very good condition, the print has been printed slightly unevenly on the sheet. This is a beautiful little Howard Hodgkin print to brighten your wall.
The prints from More Indian Views are a continuation of Indian Views A-L (1971), a set of 12 silkscreen prints derived from Howard Hodgkin’s travels in India. “The blunt rectangles, though not in the same proportions, are based on the little windows in old-fashioned Indian railway carriages, through which you get the almost keyhole views – concentrated fragments”. More Indian Views differs from the earlier series in that they are lithographs drawn on the plate and are individually titled.
