Barbara HEPWORTH Sun and Marble  (1971)

Original lithograph from Barbara Hepworth's The Aegean Suite, a series of 9 lithographs printed in 1971, printed in colours on handmade wove paper. Signed Barbara Hepworth in pencil and numbered from the edition of 60 plus 7 proofs (there was also an 'overseas' edition of 30 plus 7 proofs). Printed and published by Curwen Studios. Originally purchased  from Christies Contemporary Art.

In very good original condition with strong bright colours. The far lower left corner of the sheet has been folded back during framing (see photos opposite) and there is a barely noticeable long vertical line up the left edge of the sheet from the printing process. There are 2 or 3 tiny slits to the sheet edges which is often the case with prints with deckled edges. 

A particularly beautifully coloured, rare and eye-catching image by Dame Barbara Hepworth - one of the most collectable names in modern British art.
